If you're thinking of a walking holiday in Scotland, my advise is GO, and go with About Argyll. The owner, Frieda, and our guide, Malcolm, really cared that we had an extraordinary time walking, dining, sightseeing, and getting a true flavor for this part of Scotland. The walks were varied; we spent time on land and sea hopping small and larger ferries; and the tour even including a private tour of the Inner Hebrites and some remote uninhabited islands. Scotland is beautiful and I feel that seeing it on a walking tour is a terrific way to experience the land, the culture and the people.

The Luxury Walking Tour of the Scottish Highlands and Skye (first week of Sept.) was superb! Our guide Vicki was knowledgeable, fun and a good driver (essential on those one lane roads). The area was gorgeous, the hikes well planned, accommodations very comfortable, and the weather cooperated (most of the time). A memorable week. Thanks!

A simply outstanding guided hiking tour of both the Orkney and Shetland Islands! The whole tour was well-designed and terrifically executed. We were blessed to have Alastair Ewen as our guide. His deep connections with the area (having growth up on Shetland’s mainland), abundant interest in the history, archeology, flora and fauna of the areas we visited and desire to meet/exceed our expectations made this one of the most special travel experiences of my / our lifetime. I’m so glad we did this, and look forward to coming back, perhaps to tour Skye. Thank-you so much!!

My first trip with Argyll and it ended up as a private tour. Nevertheless, I had the most memorable and amazing walking holiday!! Scotland is definitely a country to explore on foot. I not only enjoyed every moment, but I found the history, geology and wildlife quite fascinating. It certainly enhanced my whole trip. My guide, Richard, deserves most of the credit for his knowledge, capabilities and excellent recommendations. Thank you Richard and Freida for a well planned trip! I can hardly wait for my next walking holiday (Shetland)!!

Everything about this trip was wonderful, I would thoroughly recommend About Argyll. The walks were beautiful, the group was full of nice people, the accommodation excellent, everything very well organized, and our guide, Nigel, exceptionally competent and friendly. I've already booked for next year!

Great holiday. Orkney has so much to do and see and we got round a lot of it, but left enough to encourage me to visit again. Stewart is a really knowledgeable and interesting guide. Good choice of places for evening meals too, with lots of local produce, seafood and Orkney beef.

I have just returned from an extraordinary private walking tour inShetland with About Argyll: it was absolutely perfect and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Firstly, the tour was brilliantly planned, meticulously focused on evey detail, starting from a really pleasant 12 hour voyage from Aberdeen to Lerwick. Ms. Frieda regularly got in touch with me by email, covering every aspect of the holiday. The tour included breathtaking views of cliff,s rocks and beaches, stunning bird colonies of gannets and puffins and impressive archeological sites. What struck me most was the awe-inspiring 2000 year old Broch on Mousa , in which storm petrels nest - What an incredible experience, seeing petrels going back to their nests, after spending a day at sea. Moreover, the accomodation in Scalloway was lovely and I could gorged myself on delicious packed lunches. The guide Nigel was absolutely brilliant, second to none, always showing first-class competence, in-depth knowledge , including history, flora and fauna, great passion and enthusiasm, allowing me to get to the heart of Shetland. All in all, I would definitely have another walking tour with About Argyll in the future.
